Corrections Policy
Last reviewed: July 2026
This Corrections Policy explains how The VET Sector, part of CAQA Groups and a Career Calling International initiative, receives, assesses and acts on requests to correct factual errors in material published on this website. The VET Sector publishes news, commentary, analysis and sector intelligence for Australia's vocational education, training and skills community, and the accuracy of that material matters to the providers, practitioners and policymakers who rely on it. We would rather correct an error quickly and visibly than leave inaccurate information in circulation.
What we correct
We correct material factual errors in news articles, analysis, interviews, e-zine content, calendar listings, reference pages and any other editorial material published on this website. This includes errors of fact such as incorrect names, dates, figures, quotes, attributions, regulatory references or descriptions of events. We distinguish between three kinds of change:
- Corrections - fixing a statement that was factually wrong at the time of publication.
- Clarifications - rewording a statement that was accurate but ambiguous or open to misreading.
- Updates - adding new information that has emerged since publication, such as a regulator decision being varied on review.
Opinion pieces reflect the views of their authors and we do not “correct” opinions, but factual assertions made within an opinion piece are covered by this policy in the same way as any other content.
How to request a correction
Anyone may request a correction - you do not need to be the subject of the story. Please send your request to info@caqa.com.au with the subject line “Correction request”, call 1800 266 160, or use our contact page. To help us act quickly, include:
- the web address (URL) or e-zine edition of the item;
- the exact statement you believe is inaccurate;
- why you believe it is inaccurate, with supporting evidence where available; and
- your name and contact details so we can respond to you.
How we assess requests
Correction requests are reviewed by the editorial team. We re-check the original sources, consult the public record and, where appropriate, contact the people or organisations involved in the story. Where a request concerns a contested characterisation rather than a checkable fact, we may instead offer a right of reply or a clarification. We will not remove accurate reporting simply because a person or organisation would prefer it not to exist, but we take defamation and privacy concerns seriously and will escalate them for careful review.
Timeframes
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within five business days and to resolve straightforward requests within ten business days. Complex requests requiring further enquiries may take longer, and we will keep you informed of progress.
How corrections are displayed
When we uphold a correction, we fix the text of the online article and append a dated correction note describing what was changed, so readers can see that the item has been amended. Significant corrections may also be noted in our newsletter. Where an error appears in a published e-zine or magazine edition that cannot practically be altered, we correct the digital version where possible and publish a correction in the next available edition.
Complaints and escalation
If you are unhappy with our response to a correction request, you may escalate the matter in writing to the editor via info@caqa.com.au and it will be reviewed by a senior member of the team not involved in the original decision. Complaints about the handling of your personal information are managed under our Privacy Policy, and concerns about paid content are handled under the Advertising and Sponsorship Policy.
Payments and personal information
No payments are taken on this website and there is no charge for requesting a correction. Personal information you provide with a correction request - such as your name, contact details and any evidence you supply - is used to assess and respond to the request and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. This policy is not legal advice; if you believe published material affects your legal rights, seek advice from a qualified practitioner.
