Advertising and Sponsorship Policy

Last reviewed: July 2026

This Advertising and Sponsorship Policy explains how The VET Sector, part of CAQA Groups and a Career Calling International initiative, accepts, labels and manages advertising, sponsorship and other paid or commercially supported material, and how that material is kept separate from independent editorial content. The VET Sector publishes news, commentary, analysis and sector intelligence for Australia's vocational education, training and skills community, and advertising helps fund that work - but readers must always be able to tell the difference between journalism and paid promotion.

Separation of editorial and paid material

Paid material is never presented as independent editorial. Advertisers and sponsors do not direct our news coverage, do not approve independent editorial before publication, and do not receive favourable treatment in news or analysis because of a commercial relationship. Sponsorship of a section, event or publication does not give the sponsor control over its editorial content. Where a story materially concerns an advertiser, sponsor or another CAQA Groups brand, the relationship is disclosed. Our broader editorial standards are set out in the Editorial Policy.

Labelling of paid material

All paid placements on this website are clearly identified with labels such as “Sponsored”, “Promotion”, “Advertisement” or “Partner content”. Sponsored articles are written or published under those labels and are visually distinguishable from editorial. Advertising units, including banner and box placements, carry an advertising tag. If you are ever unsure whether an item is paid content, contact us and we will tell you.

What we accept

We accept advertising and sponsorship that is relevant to our audience of RTOs, providers, educators, consultants and sector professionals. Advertisers must ensure their material is accurate, substantiated and compliant with applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law and, for training providers, the marketing and advertising requirements that apply to registered providers (such as accurate representation of course outcomes and correct use of provider identifiers). Advertisers are solely responsible for the claims in their material and for holding evidence to support those claims.

What we refuse

We decline advertising that is misleading or deceptive, unlawful, discriminatory or offensive; that imitates editorial content without clear labelling; that makes unverifiable guarantees about regulatory, employment, migration or academic outcomes; or that in our judgement would damage the trust of our readers. We may reject, suspend or remove any placement at our discretion, including after publication if a concern comes to light.

Booking and payment model

No payments are taken through this website. Advertising and sponsorship are arranged directly with our team: enquire through the Advertise with us page, the contact page, by email to info@caqa.com.au or by phone on 1800 266 160. Rates, placements, dates and inclusions are confirmed in a written booking or sponsorship agreement, and payment is made by invoice under that agreement - not online through this site.

Cancellations and refunds for bookings

Because bookings are made under separate written agreements, cancellation and refund terms are stated in the applicable agreement, including material deadlines and cancellation notice periods. As a general position: if we cancel a placement or fail to publish it as agreed, we will offer a re-run of equivalent value or a refund of the unused portion of the booking; if an advertiser cancels after the agreed deadline, work already performed and placements already published may be charged. Nothing in this policy or any booking agreement excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Advertiser responsibilities

Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of their material, for holding rights to all supplied artwork, images, logos and copy, and for any regulatory disclosures their sector requires. Publication of an advertisement is not an endorsement by The VET Sector, CAQA Groups or Career Calling International Pty Ltd of the advertiser or its products and services, and we do not guarantee any level of enquiries, clicks, sales or other outcomes from a placement.

Personal information

Contact details and business information supplied with an advertising enquiry or booking are used to manage the enquiry, the campaign and invoicing, and are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Information on this page is general and is not legal or financial advice.

Complaints about paid material

If you believe a paid placement on this website is mislabelled, misleading or otherwise inappropriate, contact us at info@caqa.com.au or on 1800 266 160. We review such complaints promptly and will amend the labelling of, or remove, any placement that does not meet this policy.
