Contributor Terms

Last reviewed: July 2026

These Contributor Terms apply when you submit articles, opinion pieces, letters, interview responses, images or other material to The VET Sector, part of CAQA Groups and a Career Calling International initiative, for possible publication on this website, in our e-zines and magazines, or in our newsletters. The VET Sector publishes news, commentary, analysis and sector intelligence for Australia's vocational education, training and skills community, and contributions from practitioners, providers, consultants, researchers and policymakers are an important part of that coverage.

Submitting material

Contributions can be proposed by email to info@caqa.com.au or through our contact page. Submitting material does not guarantee publication. Publication, placement, timing and format are at the discretion of the editorial team, and we may decline any submission without giving reasons. We may edit accepted material for length, clarity, style, accuracy, legal risk and house formatting; where edits materially change the substance of a piece, we will endeavour to check them with you before publication.

Your warranties

By submitting material you warrant that:

Copyright and licence

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, you retain copyright in your contribution. By submitting it you grant Career Calling International Pty Ltd (ABN 53 162 651 238), for The VET Sector and CAQA Groups, a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to publish, reproduce, edit, adapt, archive and promote the material on this website, in our e-zines, magazines and newsletters, and across CAQA Groups channels, with attribution to you. See our Copyright page for how published content may be used by others.

Payment

Contributions are unpaid unless a fee is agreed with you in writing before publication. No payments are taken through this website, and no payment is ever required from contributors: The VET Sector does not charge to consider or publish genuine editorial contributions. Commercially motivated content is not accepted as an editorial contribution - it must be arranged and labelled under the Advertising and Sponsorship Policy.

Labelling and independence

Opinion contributions are published under labels such as “Opinion” or “Voices” and represent your views, not those of The VET Sector, CAQA Groups or Career Calling International Pty Ltd. Where you have a declared interest, we may publish a disclosure statement with the piece. Our standards for independence, sourcing and labelling are set out in the Editorial Policy.

Corrections and removal requests

If an error is identified in your published contribution, it will be handled under our Corrections Policy, and we may contact you as part of that process. If you later ask for a contribution to be removed, we will consider the request in good faith; because published material forms part of the sector record, we may offer to update, annotate or de-index a piece rather than delete it, unless there is a legal or safety reason for removal.

Your information

To publish your contribution we collect personal information such as your name, contact details, biography, photograph and professional affiliations, and we publish those details you agree to have appear with the piece. This information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Limits of published content

Contributions are general sector information and commentary, not legal, financial, regulatory or other professional advice. Neither contributors nor The VET Sector guarantee any regulatory, funding, employment or commercial outcome from acting on published material, and readers should obtain advice from suitably qualified professionals for their own circumstances.
